Welcome to Skin Care 101 where we’re learning simple skincare tips for healthier, more radiant skin.
Before you spend money on skincare products or follow the latest trend you saw on social media, there’s one important question you should ask yourself…
What skin type do you think you have?
You might be surprised to learn that many people are using products that aren’t actually designed for their skin.
Let’s change that today.
Why Knowing Your Skin Type Matters
Your skin is unique.
Understanding your skin type helps you choose products that support your skin instead of working against it.
When you know your skin type, you can:
- Build a skincare routine that fits your skin’s needs.
- Avoid products that may cause unnecessary irritation.
- Better understand why your skin behaves the way it does.
- Shop for skincare with more confidence.
Remember, skincare isn’t about having the most expensive products—it’s about using the right products consistently.
The Four Primary Skin Types
🌿 Normal Skin
Normal skin is generally balanced.
It doesn’t feel overly oily or overly dry and usually has few imperfections.
You may notice:
- Smooth texture
- Small pores
- Minimal breakouts
- Comfortable throughout the day
💧 Dry Skin
Dry skin naturally produces less oil.
It may feel:
- Tight after cleansing
- Rough
- Flaky
- Dull
Dry skin often benefits from products that help support the skin’s moisture barrier.
✨ Oily Skin
Oily skin produces more oil than necessary.
Common signs include:
- Shine, especially in the T-zone
- Enlarged pores
- Frequent breakouts
- Makeup wearing off quickly
Producing more oil doesn’t necessarily mean your skin is hydrated.
⚖️ Combination Skin
Combination skin has characteristics of more than one skin type.
Many people notice:
- An oily forehead, nose, and chin
- Normal or dry cheeks
- Different skincare needs in different areas of the face
Your Skin Type Can Change
Your skin isn’t necessarily the same year after year.
Many factors can influence it, including:
- Age
- Weather
- Hormonal changes
- Stress
- Medications
- Your skincare routine
That’s why it’s important to pay attention to what your skin is telling you.
Your skin is constantly changing, so your skincare routine may need to change too.
Nurse Lessie’s Tip 💛
Instead of asking,
“What’s the best skincare product?”
Ask,
“What’s the best product for my skin?”
That small shift can make a big difference.
